On the 16th of May we had a trip to the Coastguard Northern Region operations centre and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter at Mechanics Bay.

Dave Gray showed us around the communications centre andthe Cubs got to see how their computer system can find a location and show it on a map on screen and hear them talking with boaties out at sea.

Then the crew of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter gave us a talk on what they do and showed us through the helicopter and some of the things they use when performing rescues.
